The game, which uses the same engine as Civilization V, allows players to create their own cities, and will be released for Windows PC, Mac and Linux.
The game has been in development for two years, with the last update in March.
There are now over 1,000 playable cities in the game, and players can choose from seven different factions, each with their own unique strategy for building the city.
“It’s a great game that we are going to continue to add more features and content to,” said CEO of the company, Jason Gadd, during a Q&A session.
“It’ll be a long game and it’s not just about the buildings.”
The game is a bit of a departure from the previous Civ series, which has always been more about conquering cities.
“I think Civ is a little more like, ‘We’re going to build a city, we’re going make it really cool,'” Gadd said.
“We’re looking for a very different kind of game.
I think that’s a very good thing.”
The game will not be a sequel to Civilization VI, which released last year.
Gadd told Eurogamer that the developers are focusing on creating a city-building game that will feel more like a game than a game engine.
He said they have seen a lot of interest from players, and that they have to “make sure that we keep it interesting”.
“I don’t think it’s a game that’s going to be popular for two to four years,” he said.
“I just think it will be something that’s interesting for the players that we’ve been working with for a while.”
