The announcement comes just two weeks after a Globe and Mail report claimed that the Seagate Building was under contract to the Ontario government.

It is scheduled to be fully operational in 2020.
The building will house offices, research and development facilities, and a number of data centers.
Seagate is the second Canadian company to build a $1bn Ottawa building, after the $1,200 million Ottawa-headquartered firm Shaw Group announced a $2.6 billion facility in February 2018.
