The world’s biggest ocean builder, KAISA, is making waves in the ocean, with its newest ship the Diana of the Sea, which is already one of the world’s largest and most advanced sailing ships.
Built to house 10,000 sailors and crew, the Diana is the largest and fastest sea craft ever built.
Built for the World Trade Center (WTC) disaster, the ship has undergone extensive refitting to accommodate the crew and the massive amount of cargo.
Built in partnership with the Japanese government, the world famous builder of sea craft is hoping the Diana will become a symbol of resilience and a symbol for those still affected by the tragedy.
The ship’s designer, Kaji Akashi, said the design of the ship was based on the classic image of a submarine, but the Diana was a hybrid between the two.
“This is a modern submarine that can navigate by sea,” Akashi told Al Jazeera.
“In the original design, we made it a submarine that was very much like a seaplane, like a submarine could fly by sea.
The design was also to have a small boat, but we were trying to give it a bit more space in the ship.”
Akashi said the ship is designed to be a floating museum, with a huge museum in the water.
“We are trying to show the human side of this ship,” he said.
“There are no humans onboard.
We are trying, with the ship’s shape, to show that people are still alive, still breathing and still on the ship.”
We are going to take the hull of the Diana, and use it as a floating monument to remember all those people who lost their lives and their lives were saved because of this amazing ship.
“Building the ship, the biggest of its kind in the world, was not a straightforward process.
“[But] the main structure is the engine room and the main hangar and the port. “
The hull of this Diana has an amazing amount of structure,” Akash said.

Akash said the Diana has undergone some major refits.
“Before the construction, we had to make some changes to the ship,” Akasha said.
The ship is still not entirely complete, but Akashi said it is now in a “complete state”.
“This ship is an ocean destroyer.
It has an incredible amount of firepower, but it is a very quiet ship.
It is a ship that is built to take on the biggest threats in the sea, which are ships that are too big, too fast, too large,” he explained.
The new ship is not a full-blown seaplane.
“It is a small sailboat that can move at about 5 knots,” Akasaki said.
But, like the Titanic, the new ship will have an engine room with a propeller.
“When the ship starts taking off, it will start with the engines, and after that, there will be two other engines on board,” he added.
Akashi is confident the new design will become the first of its sort in the oceans.
“That ship is going to become a very famous one, and it is going be very hard to replace it,” he told Aljazeera.
“But we have seen that it is possible.”
The new vessel will become one of KAISA’s biggest customers, as well as one of its most profitable ones.
The company says it has more than $6bn in annual revenue from its ocean services, which include the ship and other sea-related businesses, and expects to be able to continue operating at full capacity until 2019.
“Our goal is to be an ocean-going company, and we are going in the right direction,” Akushi said.
Akash has also started a crowdfunding campaign to raise $200m (£130m) to build and operate the ship permanently.
“I want to build it as an ocean explorer, a real one, but I also want to have the opportunity to do it,” Akasa said.
“I have a big vision for this ship and this project, and I have the money to make it happen.”
