— You may have heard of car roofs, but if you’re like most people, you probably don’t know that they’re also part of a growing cottage industry of roof repair.
A new breed of roofing is being introduced by car manufacturers to combat climate change, with some companies selling their products at a premium to consumers who want to avoid the impact of climate change.
The roofing industry, or roofing as it’s often called, is booming in California, with companies like Caron Roofing and Caron Homebuilding making their mark on roofs around the country.
But car roof repair is a niche market, and a small number of roof makers are starting to take advantage of the demand for their products.
Caron Homebuilders CEO Jeff Geddes says that with the rising demand for roofing, the company has to grow its business, and that’s exactly what it’s doing.
“We’re just trying to grow our business and we’re going to do it by creating more products for our customers,” Gedders said.
“We’re doing it by focusing on roofing.”
Gedders started Caron as a way to keep cars from overheating.
In the years since, Caron has grown its product line by creating custom designs for cars, but it’s the roofing products that are the most popular in California.
Geddes said his company makes about 50% of its roof products in California and sells the rest to customers all over the world.
“We really are an American company, we’re really good at manufacturing, we do a great job of keeping our customers happy, and we don’t make any money on our roofing,” he said.
But there are a few roofing companies in California that aren’t just good at making products that help keep cars cool, they also make products that make money for their companies.
For instance, Caronica Homebuilders has been the subject of a major investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice for allegedly failing to disclose its relationship with a California company that made a greenhouse roof for the car industry.
Investigators also found that Caronica failed to disclose a connection between its roofing business and a company that makes products for the food and beverage industry.
In California, car companies are also increasingly looking at their suppliers, especially roofing suppliers.
According to a study by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, the cost of roof products are more than double what they were in 2011.
The report found that roof suppliers are making more than half of the companies profits on roof materials.
And the industry is booming, with car companies investing millions of dollars into roofing plants.
There’s no better place for car companies to make money than in California because of the state’s abundant resources, said David Smith, CEO of the California Manufacturers Association.
He says the California economy is one of the top in the nation and car companies know this.
Smith said the car companies will look to grow in California as they expand to other parts of the country, and he expects the industry to become even more profitable.
“The car industry is here, we have all the resources, we are in the middle of this huge growth, and it is an opportunity for the industry,” Smith said.
But some roofing roofing manufacturers say they’re struggling.
While Geddys car roofing company has a market share of about 25% of the market, he says that number is much lower in California than it is in most states.
That’s because California has relatively low unemployment, so businesses can afford to hire workers for roof jobs, he said, adding that California’s job market is better than most states in that it doesn’t have as many high unemployment.
Geddys roofing supplier, Caro Homebuilders, is part of the small group of roof companies that are making money.
They are also competing with a much larger company that’s trying to become a big player in the roof market.
John Tressell, president of Caro, said he thinks it’s important for car manufacturers like him to grow.
When I was in college, the roof was the biggest expense for a student.
But now, the industry really is becoming a $30 billion industry, and they are doing a really good job of growing their business,” Tressel said.”
They have the advantage of a strong brand, they have the best products, and if they do it right, they can create new product lines that will make it even more attractive to the consumer,” he added.
Tressell said Caro’s roofing product lines include some that he has designed for car makers and others that he is building for consumers.
